The Role:
The Student Disability and Wellbeing Officer will contribute to a student-centred specialist advice and guidance service providing confidential, impartial advice and support to students with a range of neurodiverse needs. They will be required to deliver confidential, impartial advice and support for students, to enable them to participate fully in their studies at our institutions. The postholder will work collaboratively with the other members of the College/institution and provide advice service across all campuses
Some Key Responsibilities would be:
Ensure legal compliance under the Equality Act 2010 by formulating, promoting, and reviewing student disability services.
Conduct initial screenings for learning difficulties, manage referrals for diagnostic assessments, and maintain accurate records on the database.
Develop, implement, and review reasonable adjustments for students, working closely with departments to ensure smooth transitions and effective support.
Manage a portfolio of cases, providing ongoing support, arranging non-medical helpers, and advising students on obtaining disability evidence.
Participate in staff training, case conferences, and contribute to disability policy development and the annual Disability Advisory Service report.
Stay updated on legislation and best practices, promoting high-quality disability advice and ensuring compliance with Health & Safety and Equality & Diversity regulations
Requirements:
Master’s or Professional qualification in a related field
Experience working in a Higher Education setting
Oraganisation and Time Management
Excellent communication and coordination skills
Understanding and being empathetic to the needs of our students
Cooperative and collaborative
