The European Climate Foundation (ECF) was founded in 2008 as a major philanthropic initiative to help tackle climate change by fostering the development of a low-carbon society at the national, European and global level.

We support over 357 partner organisations to carry out activities that contribute to the public debate on climate action, drive urgent and ambitious policy in support of the objectives of the Paris Agreement and help deliver a socially responsible transition to a net-zero emissions economy and sustainable society in Europe and around the world.

Position

About the role

The ECF is looking for a consultant to manage its corporate communications work for a period of 6 months (maternity cover).

The Corporate Communications function is part of the ECF Strategic Communications team which is the outreach unit of the foundation.

The role of the Corporate Communications Consultant will be:

  • to help ensure that the ECF’s branded communication is consistent and going from strength to strength, while making sure that it adequately reflects the organisation’s unique role in the field;
  • to act as brand guardian internally, equipping the organisation and staff with everything they need to positively reinforce the ECF’s brand in our daily work and public engagements.

Key responsibilities

The ECF would like to hire a corporate communications consultant to perform the following tasks:

  • Support the development of a corporate communications strategy;
  • Manage the ECF website and social media accounts;
  • Lead the production of ECF corporate communications materials (eg. annual report);
  • Support ECF teams with ECF-branded communications (design, mailing & general guidance for better outreach);
  • Support ECF programmes with the production of communications materials (reports, website, reports…);
  • Manage ECF internal communications tools (eg. intranet contents, internal newsletter…);
  • Support the development corporate communications policies and standards, as well as internal initiatives and tools to socialize them within the organisation.

Reporting to the Strategic Communications Director, Europe the consultant is expected to work closely with other ECF’s relevant departments.

Requirements

  • Strong interest in the ECF’s mission and values;
  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience in communications;
  • Experience in designing corporate communications and branding strategies;
  • Experience in communications project management;
  • Experience in website and social media management;
  • Excellent written skills with a sound understanding of editorial approaches;
  • Excellent command of the English language (both spoken and written) and good level of French for coordination with suppliers;
  • High level demand for quality results and respect of deadlines;
  • Strong collaboration skills as this is very much a bridging role between different teams with different objectives;
  • The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker and planner with a high-level professionalism as well as creative and resourceful mind and a strong attention to details.
