Position

About this role:

This position is part of ECF’s ReNew2030 team, which aims to accelerate the development of wind and solar energy, along with enhancing grid and storage solutions, to achieve near term climate objectives for 2030 and 2035, while improving energy security, creating new jobs, and delivering health, climate, and economic benefits.


The project’s implementation is driven by partnership of regional climate foundations and expert regranting platforms, making teamwork an essential measure of success for this role. The incumbent of this role will work with regional implementation partners around the world to foster the acceleration of clean forms of electricity.


We are looking for a collaborative individual to join the ReNew2030 team, with a strong preference for someone who has experience working in and supporting projects in climate and energy field, with a deep understanding of the electricity sector, specifically the scaling of renewable energy, in a variety of different economic contexts.


The postholder will value public campaigning, technical analysis, working with governments and multiple sectors of the economy.


Key responsibilities:

The Programme Senior Associate will be responsible for:

- Project implementation:

o Conducting research on climate change and renewable energy, as well as produce briefings and publications

o Policy insight and prospecting: keeping abreast of national and global climate and energy politics and monitor developments in climate and electricity sector policies

o Coordinating projects with relevant partners and stakeholders – both internally and externally

- Communications:

o Contributing to the development of ReNew2030 communication plan and materials to advance the project’s objectives

o Working with internal colleagues and external agencies as needed to guide the development of ReNew2030’s brand and public image

o Supporting the communication agency and internal communications teams to write copy for the ReNew2030 website

o Coordinate with partners to develop case studies or stories that showcase the success of their projects

- Grant-making:

o Collaborating with ECF’s grant-making hub, Finance team, and coalition partners to manage grant-related tasks relating to the project

o Ensuring internal systems are adequately set up for effective annual on-granting processes

o Conducting review of partner project plans and proposals

o Preparing documents and briefings for relevant ECF bodies

- Programme administrative and operational support:

o Organise meetings, workshops, and other events involving partners, including logistics, agenda setting, and follow-up actions.

o Maintain up-to-date and accurate records of all programme reports

o Provide support in planning, implementing, and monitoring programme activities


Requirements

Experience and competencies:


- A graduate degree or equivalent and at least 6 years of working experience in energy and climate-related fields

- Knowledge and understanding of climate and energy topics, especially the electricity sector

- Political acumen, including an understanding of how to collaborate with international partners to effect change, is important.

- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills are required; knowledge of other languages is a plus, but not required.

- Ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner – including narrative, report, and bulletin styles as well as a good understanding of using social media for impact

- Ability to work both independently and as part of the team

- Strong organizational and project management skills

- Adaptability and flexibility to work in a rapidly changing environment

- Microsoft office skills
