Position

About the role

The Network Analysis Unit at ECF supports programmatic grant-making teams in developing and executing strategies using data-driven insights. Our offerings include context and narrative analysis, political-economy analysis, impact measurement, and power/systems mapping. This is achieved by leveraging our in-house capabilities in conjunction with collaborative partnerships with external specialist providers.

The business intelligence analyst will support our program teams in defining and scoping their challenges and providing the data and insights to drive successful strategy.

Reporting to the Network Analysis Unit Director, you'll interact across the organization, directly serving program teams, collaborating with management, and collaborating with internal stakeholders to deliver this impact.


Key responsibilities

  • Define Requirements: Collaborate with programme teams to understand data analysis needs and develop effective data solutions for informing granting strategies.
  • Perform and Deliver Analysis: Generate insights, visualisations and reports using various quantitative and qualitative analytical techniques to address complex policy advocacy and strategic communications challenges.
  • Manage Collaboration: Coordinate with internal stakeholders and specialist external partners to ensure smooth project execution, managing timelines and resources.
  • Enhance Capabilities: Continuously improve analytical tools and processes and providing training to support data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Requirements

Experience and competencies

Required:

•Proficiency in problem definition and translating abstract challenges into tangible analysis solutions.

•Adaptability to a proactive ‘start-up mindset’ and flexible working conditions.

•Strong communication skills to articulate business needs to technical colleagues for effective collaboration.

•Experience creating reports and presenting recommendations to business stakeholders

•Project planning, management and delivery experience

•Experience with MSExcel and PowerBI (or similar)

•5 – 10 years of relevant professional experience.

•Passion for climate action with a genuine interest in the mission and values of the ECF.

•Excellent written and spoken English


Desirable:

•An understanding of policy and advocacy strategies.

•Knowledge of web services, web scraping techniques, using open data APIs, SQL, scripting languages (Python)

•Experience in NGO/philanthropic program teams.

•Knowledge of climate change topics and ecosystems.

•Other language competencies.

•Qualitative research skills.
