The Pooled Fund on International Energy (PIE) is an international platform hosted by Stichting European Climate Foundation (ECF). The goal of The Pooled Fund on International Energy (PIE) is to support the work of organisations in developing strategies to secure clean energy around the world in the interests of healthy citizens and a safe climate.

Position

About the role

PIE is currently accepting applications for the Programme Manager Coal Asset Transition Accelerator (CATA) role. Details of CATA can be found here.

The initiative aims to support the rapid retirement of polluting fossil fuel power plants, underscoring the principles of a Just Transition to renewable energy. The project is entering an exciting phase 2 and requires a programme manager to convene, manage grants, communicate and develop this exciting project further.

Collaborating with an international team, the successful candidate will provide strategic coordination to a targeted group of CSOs and think tank partners driving the transition from coal to clean energy.

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly driven professional with the ambition to make a difference and play an active role in helping speed up the low carbon transition and champion EU leadership in the world.

  1. Duties and responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for:

·       Helping funders and the field develop the next level of thinking on coal retirement

·       Review grant proposals

·       Develop logic models

·       Handle reporting

·       Develop funding proposals

Requirements

Key competencies

·       A genuine interest in the mission and values of the ECF and PIE.

·       8+ years of work experience.

·       Desired content skills: A sound understanding of the international energy industry and an ability to relate to the finance mechanism of coal retirement. Existing relationships with key energy, finance, or climate policymakers, analysts and NGOs are highly desirable (alternatively, the proven ability to develop these swiftly). Good knowledge of the political landscape relating to energy 

·       A strategic thinker with a proven ability to develop and implement robust communications plans. Excellent networking and interpersonal skills. The disposition to work generously with colleagues in a high-trust community of peers. A commitment to an inclusive and empowering approach to facing climate change.

·       Outstanding English language skills and proven skills to produce engaging and impactful written materials.

·       An independent self-starter able to work on their own and as part of a remote team. The versatile and adaptable skills necessary to flourish in a fast-paced and wide-ranging work environment and work across phone/video conferencing, time zones, Slack, email, etc.
