Position

As People & Culture Intern, Strategic Communications you will be an essential part of the People & Culture and Operations team and will report to the People & Culture Officer, Strategic Communications. You will have exposure to a wide range of HR tasks, gaining hands-on experience in human resources management. The role will interface with colleagues across the Strategic Communications team internationally and collaborate closely with the central People & Culture team of the ECF.

The ECF’s strategic communications team is the outreach unit of the foundation. Its role is to act as a centre of expertise for communication on climate change and to play an active role in helping create more political, media and public endorsement for action on climate change at an international, national and sectoral level. Team members deliver strategic advice, communications and outreach support to ECF’s programmes and its grantees, and work as part of an international network of communications experts to enhance the public debate on climate change and its solutions more broadly.

Key responsibilities

As part of our growing operations unit, you will support an international team of colleagues on a variety of tasks:

  • Handle HR administration: regular monitoring and updating of the HR database with starters and leavers, contract issuance and renewals, completion of probation periods and any other changes to payroll

  • Organise onboarding and induction plans for new joiners

  • Support with recruitment processes: vacancy postings, shortlisting of CVs, scheduling interviews with candidates

  • Perform other ad-hoc duties as required.

Requirements

  • A genuine interest in the mission and values of the organisation

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and French; knowledge of any additional languages is an asset

  • Sound judgement, able to handle confidential information with discretion and tact

  • Good attention to detail

  • Results-oriented with problem-solving capabilities

  • Team player with a flexible and friendly attitude

  • Able to use time effectively and efficiently; prioritisation of important tasks whilst ensuring day-to-day delivery of HR services

Location

Brussels. Shared co-working space is available.

We will not provide support for relocation. You must have the right to work in Belgium.
