Position

About the role

The European Climate Foundation (ECF) is currently accepting applications for the role of Monitoring & Evaluation Manager, Strategic Communications for Southeast and East Asia (SEEA). The role is part of an international team using cutting-edge communications to help shift SEEA towards clean energy.

The ideal candidate will have solid experience in monitoring and evaluation paired with a good understanding of strategic communications, ranging from shaping stories for the media to measuring and analysing progress and impact.

You will be able to liaise with communications experts as well as partners and funders in a diverse international setting, distilling and communicating evidence-based insights that can improve strategy.

Key responsibilities

As Monitoring & Evaluation Manager, Strategic Communications - SEEA, you will report to the Regional Manager, Strategic Communications and will be responsible for:  

  • Creating and implementing a cohesive Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) framework that supports the development and practical implementation of a communications strategy seeking to shift Asia from fossil fuels to clean energy;
  • Identifying meaningful KPIs and metrics with quantitative and qualitative data sources to underpin strategy and measure progress;
  • Ensuring systematic data collection including through media monitoring and social media analytics tools;
  • Creating analysis, distilling insights, providing and presenting data-based recommendations that can be actioned to improve climate and energy communication projects in SEEA;
  • Managing regular progress reporting both internally and to meet funder requirements;
  • Working with regional teams and other stakeholders to build a culture of data-based decision making across all work in SEEA.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience in monitoring and evaluation, preferably in media, strategic communications or advocacy;
  • Capacity to design and apply M&E techniques with a focus on deriving useful insights that feed into and improve ongoing work;
  • Ability to understand and meet the requirements of various stakeholders, familiarity with grant-based work and related funder reporting an advantage;
  • Proven track record working with software and database applications, including MS Office, Excel, media monitoring and social media analytics software, e.g. Meltwater, LexisNexis, Sysomos or Crimson Hexagon;
  • Strong time and priority management, high level of independence and can-do mentality;
  • Fast-learning self-starter comfortable to work in a dynamic international environment;
  • Good sense of judgement and discretion;
  • Excellent attention to detail;
  • A team player and a natural collaborator with a passion for excellence, used to working flexibly at fast pace in remote settings and across time-zones;
  • Willingness and ability to travel and work unusual hours from time to time, due to challenges of being part of an international team;
  • The disposition to work with colleagues in a high-trust community of peers, and a commitment to an inclusive and empowering approach, a spirit of generosity and mutual support;
  • Excellent communication and English language skills, both written and verbal; knowledge of other languages especially regionally relevant to Southeast Asia preferred.

Location

South East Asia (preferably Bangkok, Jakarta or Singapore), but remote working is a possibility for the right candidate. Co-location with colleagues depends on location.
