The advertised position is with the Global Strategic Communications Council (GSCC) – a global network of communications professionals in the field of climate, energy and nature. GSCC is a collaborative project hosted by the ECF.


Through our work, we aim to contribute to a world with a safe and stable climate for current and future generations. We hope to build broad support for just, inclusive, and equitable solutions to the climate crisis.


Our philanthropically funded work focuses on media debate and public discourse at the global level and in major economies across Asia, Europe, Africa, Australia and the Americas. We support a diverse range of partners across sectors and geographies, helping them add their voices, views and insights to the conversation.


Position

GSCC is currently recruiting for a Junior Communications Associate, Hydrogen. Working as part of an international team of expert communicators, you will work closely with the Senior Strategic Communications Associate, Hydrogen to support partners in this field with the aim of placing scientific evidence at the forefront of the energy transition debate, with a focus on alternative decarbonisation technologies. You will work within GSCC’s Oil and Gas team, providing some administrative and media relations support.


This role combines both strategic communications, coordination, and project management. It is an exciting opportunity for a highly organised and driven candidate who has the ambition to play an active role in speeding up the energy transition internationally.


You will report to the Senior Strategic Communications Associate, Hydrogen.


Key responsibilities



  • Develop and manage a content strategy for the website and social media, working alongside our digital team.
  • Support with the creation of communications materials, including press releases, website copy and social media content.
  • Manage media requests and a media inbox
  • Lead the coordination of the day-to-day activities of our partners, including overseeing key deadlines, content production timelines and key moments calendar.
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Coordinate closely on outputs with GSCC teams, such as the design, digital, research and country teams.
  • Drive outreach for new partners.
  • General administrative tasks (such as reconciling invoices, agenda setting, note taking, maintaining libraries and databases, stakeholder mapping).

Requirements

  • A genuine interest in the mission and values of the ECF.
  • A passion to create change.
  • Proven experience in a coordination and/or outreach role
  • Outstanding English language skills.
  • The ability to produce engaging and impactful communications materials on complicated issues – op-ed writing skills are a bonus.
  • Highly organised with sound project management skills
  • An independent self-starter able to work on their own and as part of a remote team across different time zones.
  • The versatile and adaptable skills necessary to flourish in a fast-paced and wide-ranging work environment and work across phone/video conferencing, Slack, email, Trello, etc.
  • A commitment to an inclusive and empowering approach to facing climate change.
