Position

The ECF’s strategic communications team plays an active role in helping create more political, media and public endorsement for action on climate change at an international, national and sectoral level. Team members deliver strategic advice, communications and outreach support to ECF’s programmes and its grantees, and work as part of an international network of communications experts to enhance the public debate on climate change and its solutions more broadly.

The European Climate Foundation is currently accepting applications for a Grants Officer to join the strategic communications team. You will report to the Senior Operations Associate, Strategic Communications. You will ensure consistency of approach and compliance with the internal processes and liaise closely with Operations team, the strategic communications team and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

You will support the strategic communications team in their grant-making activities:

  • Performing due diligence on new and existing organisations
  • Supporting generation of grant and contract requests in ECF’s internal grant management system
  • Monitoring and following up on the contracting and reporting stages (financial and narrative reporting)
  • Monitoring grant and contract closing activities
  • Coordinating a dedicated re-granting scheme designed to deliver strategic communications interventions in the field
  • Supporting the Senior Operations Associate in maintaining a comprehensive overview of grant-making activities
  • Performing other administrative tasks related to the grant management process

Requirements

  • Relevant work experience is a requirement, for example in operations, administrative processes, project management or similar
  • Experience or strong interest in grants management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, other languages a plus;
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, with an ability to spot errors;
  • Strong administrative and IT skills: experienced user of Microsoft Office, familiar with cloud-based collaboration tools, and comfortable working with new software;
  • An ability to manage deadlines and deliver high quality output within ambitious timeframes;
  • Experience in engaging with various stakeholders with a friendly and service-oriented approach;
  • Discretion, and the ability to work with sensitive, confidential information;
  • The disposition to work generously with colleagues in an international, multicultural community of peers, and ability to work remotely and in different time zones;
  • A commitment to an inclusive and empowering approach to tackle climate change.
