About the Forum New Economy


The Forum New Economy is a Berlin-based non-partisan platform launched in 2019 with the aim to accelerate the emergence of a new paradigm that leads to economically, socially and ecologically more sustainable prosperity. The Forum seeks to drive new approaches at the interface between academia and policy. It does so by promoting innovative research to respond to major challenges such as inequality, financial instability and climate change. The Forum informs current policy debates, by disseminating new insights, and by bringing together leading innovative academics with policymakers and a broader public in Germany and beyond.


The Forum works as an autonomous unit under the legal entity of the European Climate Foundation. It is also supported by the Mercator Foundation, the Hewlett Foundation, the Institute for New Economic Thinking (INET), as well as by a high-level group of academic partners. It is run by a Berlin-based bureau in which six full-time members are working in a highly dynamic team at the frontier between new thinking and policymaking.

Position

As Event and Team Assistant, you will support the Forum’s team in organizing and running its various events with high-level speakers and participants. Activities include invitation management, venue booking, event logistics for live and hybrid formats and catering organisation. You also support the Forum’s entire team with arising administrative taks such as information management and processing of invoices, and the Director with travel management and expense reports. You will work as a core team member in a young committed team in the heart of Berlin.


Key responsibilities

  • Organize conferences and workshops, external high-level-meetings and internal meetings, including venue bookings, catering, travel arrangement and invoices
  • Responsible for information management for the team, ensuring team members keep up-to-date notes and files
  • Travel bookings
  • Schedulde meetings and calls
  • Support the team wirth ad-hoc tasks
  • Support the team to adhere to communicated guidelines and procedures on all operational matters
  • Handle the processing of invoices and expense reports
  • Occasional research tasks (contacts, data etc)



Requirements

Experience and competencies

The following attributes are sought by applicants:

  • 1-2 year’s relevant experience in an administrative function
  • Relevant experience with conference/event management with senior speakers and participants, ideally live, online and hybrid
  • Interest in socio-political issues
  • Native speaker or comparable level in German, fluent in English
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good communication skills
  • Team player
  • Ability to juggle various tasks and prioritise effectively
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a positive, can-do attitude
  • Strong administrative and computer skills (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
