We support over 280 partner organisations to carry out activities that contribute to the public debate on climate action, drive urgent and ambitious policy in support of the objectives of the Paris Agreement and help deliver a socially responsible transition to a net-zero emissions economy and sustainable society in Europe and around the world.

Position

About the role

As Compensation & Benefits Manager, you are the trusted expert in all matters related to employee reward. You ensure compliance with employment and social legislation in the countries where the ECF employs staff and, with the support of the payroll team you are supervising, a smooth execution of all contractual clauses. You are part of our very motivated HR team and contribute to deliver a great service to the organisation. You report to the HR Director.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure the coherence of the reward approach at ECF (salary levels & benefits) with regards to the organisation’s goals, values and structure
  • In line with the reward approach, update salary bands when deemed necessary, or find external references for new location, and develop benefits in ECF locations while optimising employer cost;
  • Develop and maintain HR policies in area of expertise;
  • Manage Compensation & Benefits related projects, with the support of the HR Director, such as: design and deployment of annual review process, etc;
  • Support employment in new ECF locations;
  • Supervise the correct processing of the payroll in all aspects;
  • Ensure HR practices and templates are up to date and compliant with local legislation (contracts, exit documents, etc), liaising with local authorities (social security, social inspection, etc) and legal counsel whenever necessary.
  • Optimise internal processes and propose changes based on best practices to ensure effectiveness and cost efficiency;
  • Draft and follow up the HR budget for his / her activities including payroll;
  • Compile internal audit data in collaboration with the Finance team;
  • Develop and provide reports on HR metrics to the HR Director;
  • Fully own content areas and act as expert/advisor to HR Director and the organisation;
  • Support the implementation of the HR strategy;
  • Participate in other HR projects;

Requirements

Experience and competencies

  • Strong interest in climate and the environment
  • At least 8 years’ experience in a similar role in an international organisation of which 2 years working on payroll;
  • Previous experience with payroll;
  • Previous management experience preferred;
  • Good knowledge of labour law in different EU countries
  • Strategic thinker able to carry-on hands-on activities, solution-oriented and can-do attitude;
  • Excellent collaboration and influencing skills;
  • Strategic agile leader, adapting well to changing priorities, with the ability to follow through with smart and adaptive implementation plans;
  • Takes pride in delivering a high-quality service to the organisation;
  • Impeccable work ethics;
  • Innovative and forward-thinking,
  • Excellent command of English (both spoken and written) and good working knowledge of French is a plus
