Position

About the role

As Compensation & Benefits Manager, you are the trusted expert in all matters related to employee reward. You will ensure compliance with employment and social legislation in the countries where the ECF employs staff. You will be part of our very motivated HR team to help deliver a great service to the organisation and you will report to the HR Director.

Key responsibilities

  • Work with external suppliers to develop benefits in all ECF locations aligned with country specifics while optimising employer cost;

  • Optimise internal processes and propose changes based on best practices to ensure effectiveness and cost efficiency;

  • Conduct benchmark activities by comparing pay and benefits to the market using published compensation surveys; analyses total cash compensation practices internally as well as externally;

  • Manage Compensation & Benefits related projects, with the support of the HR Director, such as: payroll transfer, design and deployment of annual review process, etc;

  • Participate in other HR projects such as selection and deployment of an HRIS;

  • Implement payroll services in new ECF locations;

  • Supervise the correct processing of the payroll in all aspects;

  • Ensure HR templates are up to date and compliant with local legislation (contracts, exit documents, etc);

  • Compile internal audit data in collaboration with the Finance team;

  • Check HR budget are correctly updated with costs;

  • Liaise with local authorities (social security, social inspection, etc) and legal counsel ensuring compliance with local legislation;

  • Develop and provide reports on HR metrics to the HR Director;

  • Work closely with HR Director to coordinate annual salary reviews;

  • Develop and maintain HR policies in area of expertise;

  •  Fully own content areas and act as expert/advisor to HR Director and the organisation;

  • Develop a modern and effective way of managing processes and workload;

  • Develop a consistent and fair approach to all tasks and employee requests;

  • Manage one direct report in charge of payroll;

  • Support the implementation of the HR strategy;

  • Act as Ambassador of the ECF Values.

Requirements

Experience and competencies

  • Strong interest in climate and the environment;
  • Degree in HR management or equivalent experience.
  • Passionate about human resources,
  • At least 8 years’ experience work experience in an international organisation of which 2 years working on payroll;
  • Previous experience with Belgian and international payroll, including transfer of payroll provider;
  • Management experience preferred but not essential;
  • Good knowledge of labour law in different EU countries;
  • Strong digital skills;
  • Project management capabilities;
  • Team player;

  • Solution-oriented, can-do attitude;
  • Impeccable work ethics;

  • Excellent command of English (both spoken and written) and good working knowledge of French is an asset;
