The advertised position is with the Global Strategic Communications Council (GSCC) – a global network of communications professionals in the field of climate, energy and nature. GSCC is a collaborative project hosted by the ECF.

Our philanthropically funded work focuses on media debate and public discourse at the global level and in major economies across Asia, Europe, Africa, Australia and the Americas. Position

About the role

As Communications Associate, you are responsible for coming up with effective digital strategies and tools for best implementation, well aligned with the goals of GSCC South Korea. This will require skill sets to use social and digital media to build and sustain engagement with key audiences. You’ll oversee social media channels, produce and upload content across digital channels, conduct reporting on the performance of digital content, and coordinate with digital campaigning colleagues internationally as well as with partner organisations.

Key responsibilities

· Develop strategies / plans and schedules for integrated digital media campaigns;

· Use online advertising tools to drive and deepen engagement for target audiences;

· Conduct content testing to determine which messages drive engagement;

· Content sourcing and creation;

· Create, source, and publish written and visual content to drive engagement and participation with target audiences, and meet other communication needs;

· Liaise with translators and authors as required;

· Assist and advise campaign partners on digital marketing activities;

· Social listening and analysis;

· Undertake social listening and data analysis on behalf of the campaign;

· Suggest messaging recommendations based on the outcomes of this research;

· Work with vendors and freelancers who can support some of the key tasks mentioned above.

Requirements

Experience and competencies

· Significant professional experience working in communication or marketing at news media or advertising agencies

· Knowledge of trends in the use of digital tools such as Facebook and Google ads to engage key audiences;

· Basic graphic design and writing skills;

· Good knowledge and understanding of issues around climate change;

· Native Korean speaker, with a good understanding of English. Knowledge of other Asian languages is a plus;

· Willingness to learn;

· A team player and a natural collaborator with high levels of self-motivation and a passion for excellence, used to working flexibly at fast pace in remote settings and across time-zones;

· Willingness and ability to travel and work unusual hours from time to time, due to the challenges of being part of a global team;

· The disposition to work with colleagues in a high-trust community of peers and a commitment to an inclusive and empowering approach and a spirit of generosity and mutual support.
