Company Description

About the European Climate Foundation

The European Climate Foundation (ECF) was founded in 2008 as a major philanthropic initiative to help tackle climate change by fostering the development of a low-carbon society at the national, European and global level.

We support over 500 partner organisations to carry out activities that contribute to the public debate on climate action, drive urgent and ambitious policy in support of the objectives of the Paris Agreement and help deliver a socially responsible transition to a net-zero emissions economy and sustainable society in Europe and around the world.

Position

About the role

The Land Use programme of the ECF was established in 2020 to help Europe address greenhouse gases from the land-use sector, both in Europe and globally. The programme works with a wide range of partners in civil society, think tanks, business groups and the research community in support of positive action to change the debate about land use and climate change and to accelerate policy solutions in the areas of agriculture, food, forests and nature.

This role offers the opportunity to help the land-use programme grow and consolidate its priorities, and is a truly exciting opportunity for the right person to grow, develop topical expertise and build their network.

This includes building and maintaining the programme’s budget (in Excel), liaising with the ECF’s budget team to ensure that funding sources are accurately recorded, and helping the programme plan forward based on existing and prospective available funding.

  • Grant-making: working with the programme team, other programmes and the ECF’s grant-making support hub, ensure the smooth operation of the entire grant-making cycle. This includes providing input into the grant-making strategy, scoping new topics and the CSO landscape, reviewing and evaluating grantee proposals, preparing draft grant recommendations, and acting as a liaison with grantees.

  • Managing projects from start to finish, e.g. identifying tasks and subtasks, setting deadlines, identifying and anticipating problems and elevating the where necessary for quick resolution.

  • Research: conducting research in support of programme fundraising proposals, network mapping and supporting management of ECF commissioned studies.

  • Representation: where appropriate, representing the ECF at external events
