Company Description

About the European Climate Foundation

The European Climate Foundation (ECF) is a major philanthropic initiative working to help tackle the climate crisis by fostering the development of a net-zero emission society at the national, European and global level.

We support over 1000 partner organisations to carry out activities that drive urgent and ambitious policy in support of the objectives of the Paris Agreement, contribute to the public debate on climate action and help deliver a socially responsible transition to a net-zero economy and sustainable society in Europe and around the world.

The ECF brings together diverse perspectives and backgrounds to find the best innovative solutions to tackle climate change. We are focusing on engaging and hiring great people from a wide diversity of backgrounds to strengthen the cause. If you share our values of respect, innovation, and collaboration, join us.

Position

The ECF’s UK programme exists to help broaden and deepen the political consensus for decarbonisation while securing actions to put Britain on track for net-zero and prevent the weakening of environmental standards. We aim to strengthen and improve the diversity of the public debate to ensure a fair transition that continues to enjoy strong public support.

We are looking for a collaborative individual with experience in campaigning/mobilisation and digital engagement to become part of our close-knit UK team. The chosen candidate will report to the Strategic Communications Manager, UK.

Key responsibilities

  • Grant-making: developing the campaigning and digital engagement strands of the programme; soliciting and validating proposals from potential and existing grantees; drafting selection recommendations for board/donors’ consideration.
  • Research activities & prospect: scoping of the landscape around local and national climate campaigning and advocacy, as well as potential new projects and grantees.
  • Project management: managing a set of grantees and external consultancies, providing strategic direction; overseeing budget and ensuring accountability; monitoring and evaluating progress and impact; and acting as a liaison to report progress to donors.
  • Internal coordination and communication: liaising with ECF’s other programme teams and the organisation’s operations and communications teams to ensure proper and timely dissemination of information, and consistency and complementarity of different projects and work streams.
  • Networking/convening: building partnerships with key stakeholders across the sector; convening meetings; and representing the programme at meetings and organising follow-up.
  • Strategy: helping the UK Director in setting the programme’s strategy, priorities and budgets; co-developing and implementing strategies with our network of grantees and partners.
