The advertised position is with the Global Strategic Communications Council (GSCC) – a global network of communications professionals in the field of climate, energy and nature. GSCC is a collaborative project hosted by the ECF.

Our philanthropically funded work focuses on media debate and public discourse at the global level and in major economies across Asia, Europe, Africa, Australia and the Americas. Position

GSCC are in the process of assessing the requirements of our future application suite as well as beginning the implementation of some business applications such as for Finance and HR. As Application Support Officer, GSCC, you will be responsible for supporting the Application Manager in the selection, implementation, and ongoing use of the application suite for the GSCC workforce.

A large focus of this role will initially be focused on trialling and sourcing applications in alignment with defined requirements and then assisting with setting them up and training/supporting the workforce to use them. GSCC work almost entirely in a cloud-based setup.

This role will require you to be forthcoming and positive with communicating best-practices and IT advice within the team and to the workforce. The Application Support Officer will report to the Application Manager at GSCC.

Key responsibilities

The work is divided into two functional parts:

1. Application support and administration

  • Work with the IT team to cover application-specific support enquiries.

  • Assist with the administration and configuration of applications in alignment with the workforce needs

  • Continual awareness and best practice of IT and data security

  • Assisting with writing and communicating training material related to our applications.

  • Keeping IT documentation up to date in partnership with the rest of the IT team.

2. Project-based technical input

  • Input on various IT projects both at a requirement gathering and execution level, involving the migration of some current tools and the implementation of others.

  • Input to the collective experience of the IT team.

Requirements

Experience and competencies

  • Proven working experience in similar IT role, with a key focus on cloud application support.

  • Demonstrate experience in proactively seeking to enable the workforce in getting the best value out of applications

  • Proven experience working within a project delivery environment.

  • Experience working with IT ticketing systems for liaison with IT support.

  • Experience working internationally and supporting a remote workforce is strongly desirable;

  • Excellent breadth of knowledge across the professional IT landscape;

  • Good knowledge of Google and Apple technologies; experience with IT systems such as Slack, Zoom, is desirable.

  • Assisting the configuration and administration of Finance and HR tools preferred (specifically Oracle Netsuite for Finance)

  • Technical knowledge of information security best practices;

  • Hands-on problem-solving attitude;

  • Eager to learn new tools and technologies and develop your IT skills in this role;

  • Strong time and priority management with a high level of independence combined with the ability to function cohesively as part of a team;

  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English, the ability to speak other languages is a plus;

  • Passionate about climate action with a genuine interest in the mission and values of the ECF;

  • The disposition to work generously with colleagues in a high-trust global community of peers;

  • The versatile and adaptable skills necessary to flourish in a fast-paced and wide-ranging work environment and work across phone/video conferencing and time zones;

  • A passion for excellence.

Flexible location within +/- 3hrs GMT– remote working. We may be able to provide co-working spaces in some locations.
