Position

The Africa Regional Operations Senior Officer is a key player in efficiently running the everyday operations of the Africa Regional Team, which is composed of the Africa Network Director, country desks (Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Senegal). Acting as liaison between the Global Operations Team and the Africa Regional Team, you will ensure alignment in the execution of standards and policies, keeps the region abreast of relevant information that impact operations, and coordinates crucial touchpoints between/among country desks.


Key responsibilities


▪ Supports the Africa Network Director in all facets of operations such as finance, grants, and admin (including coordination with legal and IT for any related concerns);

▪ Provides feedback and suggests improvements to the regional and global teams in order to achieve optimum operational efficiency;

▪ Seeks, analyses, and shares crucial information that affect operations in the region, particularly on the aspects of legal and security;

▪ Helps (as needed) the People and Culture Partner (HR) in the end-to-end management of the full staff life cycle;

▪ Assists in all stages of the management of regional grants and budget including monitoring expenditure reports and identifying/mitigating risks;

▪ Works collaboratively with an ad hoc team in setting up new country desks;

▪ Acts as over-all admin and logistics focal person for the region. This includes organizing the Africa Regional Team Meeting;

▪ Supports shared learning and team development;

▪ Contributes to development of global operations processes and policy improvements in collaboration with Global Operations Team

Requirements

▪ Relevant professional experience in program/project support and/or general administration

▪ Prior work experience in a fast-paced remote work environment in the Africa region

▪ Strong coordination and administration skills especially across all levels of positions and among diverse groups

▪ Has experience in maximizing Google Workspace in the management of deliverables

▪ Conveys message with diplomacy and clarity using various communication platforms

▪ Fluent in English (required) and French (desirable)

▪ Previous experience on workplace safety and security and climate advocacy, a plus

Location


Flexibly remote in Africa. We may be able to provide co-working spaces in some locations.
