The St Pauls Learning Centre is a busy community hub located in the heart of the St Pauls area of Bristol. We have three main strands of activity

  • Serviced office space hosting tenant organisations working in the realm of community and social impact and creative workshops
  • Sessional hire trainings and meeting rooms, art rooms and main hall with numerous organisations hosting a wide offering of training, support and activity for the local community and further afield
  • Public access community hub with café, Library, information and printing services and free computer use

Position

Salary: £10.90 per hour, £12,753 per year (Full-time equivalent £21,255)

Working hours: 22.5 hours a week 9.45am - 5.15pm on Saturdays and Sundays, 8.30am – 4.30pm Mondays

Location: St Paul’s Learning Centre, 94 Grosvenor Road, St Pauls, Bristol BS2 8XJ

The Post

The Weekend Reception and Facilities Support post plays an important and responsible role at St Pauls Learning Centre and is variable in activity across the days. This role requires a large amount of lone working, applicants must be responsible, punctual and reliable.

Weekends you will be lone-working and responsible for opening up the centre and ensuring the building is ready for the day. Your primary focus at weekends will be facilities based around the building, ensuring hirers have everything they need and resources are topped up, ensuring good communication with the café and library team who are onsite, keeping on top of social media engagement and calendar updates.

Mondays are more booking enquiry focused and give you a chance to connect with the team.

The main duties across the 3 days are:

Reception:

  • Opening up, getting the building ready first thing for events and tenants. Closing down and securing the building at the end of the day on weekends.
  • Ensuring rooms are ready and the appropriate facilities are available for the day’s events
  • Managing access and welcoming event hosts, inducting and directing them to the appropriate training room
  • Ensuring rooms are organised and clean between bookings and at the end of the day
  • Tending to online, telephone and in-person enquiries and providing clear information or signposting to other organisations or staff where appropriate.
  • Acting as a point of contact for tenants’ queries and communicating these effectively to the relevant staff
  • Inputting & maintaining online room booking systems
  • Taking a lead on our social media output and engagement. Scheduling posts and keeping our accounts active
  • Helping to establish and maintain professional working relationships and excellent communication with tenant organisations, hirer and other building users
  • Managing keys to offices and meeting rooms
  • Managing incoming post for the tenanted organisations based in the building
  • Overseeing car parking spaces
  • Assisting with basic administrative duties

Weekend specific facilities tasks:

  • Emptying the bins and the recycling over the weekend
  • General facilities support, including keeping the centre tidy and facilities stocked.
  • Ensuring the building is safe, pleasant and that the services are functioning

Other responsibilities include:

  • Contributing towards achieving and improving the company's social and environmental objectives, etc
  • Working to improve the services we provide to tenants
  • Compliance with Health and Safety legislation and taking part in relevant trainings
  • Attending company-wide events outside of Bristol, such as the annual employee conference, company induction and regional meetings etc (paid for)
  • A commitment to supporting social equality and diversity and environmentally sustainable practices
  • Other duties as required, in line with the role

Requirements

Essential skills and experience:

  • Excellent communication both verbally and in writing and have experience of communicating with diverse groups of people
  • The ability to act quickly and effectively using your own initiative and also as a team-player
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise work, multi-task and remain flexible
  • Trustworthy, personable, punctual and reliable
  • Committed to providing a consistently good standard of service to tenants and visitors
  • Experience of working in a diverse community
  • Able to maintain a professional standard of presentation and communication at all times
  • Strong IT skills, including experience of using Microsoft Office software for work purposes
  • A good level of experience with social media and website platforms for business
  • Some knowledge of and interest in the social and environmental performance of buildings and commitment to accessibility and environmental impact
  • Online calendar and bookings software experience or confident learner
  • Confident lone-working.
  • Willing to get your hands dirty
  • Good Health and Safety awareness

Desirable skills and experience:

  • You have previous experience in a similar role
  • Experience of being in a self-managing role

Other information

The post is a permanent part time role working 22.5 hours a week from 9.45am to 5.15pm on Saturdays and Sundays and 8.30am to 4.30pm on Mondays with a three-month probationary period. The salary is £10.90 per hour (Full time equivalent £21,255 per annum gross).
