Software Test Engineer - ANZ

ENSEK Docklands Australia Finance

Company Description

In a nutshell, we’re a software company operating in the energy sector. Our world class Software as a Service platform is the go-to option for leading energy suppliers and new market entrants alike. To understand what we do, think about your home. Somebody supplies your energy, and those suppliers are our customers. They need software to manage your account. We provide a wide range of solutions from signing up customers, taking meter readings and generating bills, to the roll-out of smart metering, managing revenue leakage and the interaction with energy comparison sites.

We are based in Nottingham in the UK but are expanding into other territories across the globe. We have just over 200 employees and are one of the fastest growing tech businesses in the country.

Position

In this role you’ll need to take ownership of all the testing for your product line. As ‘the’ test specialist you will care about the quality of the software you release. We have a test framework in place, but within that we leave it to you to design an efficient and intelligent test approach. Your solution could be automated or manual. You own it.

  1. Own and manage the test process for your product. Figure out what needs testing and how, create your own test approach, deploy the code and configure your test environment, develop your test data, execute the test plan, get the software peer reviewed and then released. Basically, it’s your baby.
  2. You’ll need to be creative at times and drive your own success by fully collaborating with your product team and your test colleagues, who are there to advise and support you.
  3. Take responsibility for your product line. Own it, play your part in its success, embed yourself in the products DNA.
  4. Always take a holistic view of the process, making sure that you assess the risk and impact on your own product and, importantly, the rest of the ENSEK eco system. Educate those around you on how to test well, test early and fail small.
  5. Deal with bumps in the road by devising other routes, using alternate methods, finding new solutions.

Requirements

TECHNICAL STUFF

We don’t need all of this but - Postman or similar API test tool. Source control and experience of branching and version control. GitFlow. SQL. Continuous integration and continuous deployment tools. ISTQB qualified ideally.

FAIL EARLY, FAIL SMALL

Drive the test agenda in your product team, educating your peers to build in early testing, front loading the quality assurance process.

COLLABORATION

You’ll need experience working in multi-disciplined, product led teams, collaborating with software engineers, product owners and business analysts in an agile environment.

DEALING WITH COMPLEXITY

We’d value experience in the testing of complex, multi-faceted software. Our SaaS solution has many interdependencies and configurations. This makes it a testing challenge, but hopefully one you will love getting your teeth into.
