About us here at ENSEK

We are ENSEK, a fast growing, fast moving and industry disrupting Software as a Service business operating in the energy sector, worldwide.

When we say energy, we mean that our clients supply electricity and gas to your home and to businesses too. Our job is to design, build, test and deliver market changing software to support all the interaction that our clients will have with their end customer. We, and our solutions, are entirely cloud based working with our partner, AWS, to revolutionise the energy supply market.

We continue to drive that change here in the UK, working with big brand names you’ll instantly know, and also supporting new entrants to the marketplace, who are continually changing the landscape. This year, we have also expanded our operations globally as our upward trajectory continues at pace.

About this role

You’d be designing, coding and unit testing elements of our energy supply software in a squad of likeminded software specialists.

Our squads are made up of lead engineers, software engineers, software testers, a product owner, and an agile delivery specialist. You’ll work closely with our architects, our software testing team and your Engineering Manager, whose job is to manage you and the squad deliverables.

It’s a close working unit and you’ll quickly develop your energy sector know how with all its complexity and fast-moving pace.

What skills do we hope you will bring

You’ll be familiar with working in a .net environment with well established skills in C#, SQL and JavaScript. Those are our key needs though, of course, we use other tools and technologies.

If you have experience with cloud-based tech, then that’s ideal. We have plumped for AWS, but if you haven’t worked with that or other cloud tech professionally, then no matter. If those tools have got your interest and you’ve been known to dabble with them in your spare time, then that’s good enough for us.

You will also, hopefully, bring a practical knowledge of solid principles and clean code so that we can all work together to build an easily readable and maintainable code base.

And finally, we hope you’ll bring, not just your great coding skills, but also a curious mind and a willingness to learn and share from your teammates.

Our interview process

Just so there are no surprises, typically, we do an initial get to know you/get to know us interview. Then a technical exercise which is sent over to you at a convenient time of your choosing. If that all goes well, then we do a longer final interview where we discuss the exercise in more detail and your experience and you can quiz us about our products, projects, culture and absolutely anything else you fancy talking about.
