The German School London was founded in Richmond in 1971. It is an independent school, accredited and supported by the Federal Republic of Germany. We cater for pupils from Kindergarten through the bilingual Abitur and the IB diploma, offering an appealing and challenging educational programme with specific emphasis on German language and culture.

Position

The German School London currently has a vacancy for the post of IT Systems Administrator. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing system, network, user and desktop technical support at Level 1-3 for the school’s ICT infrastructure.

The Systems Administrator’s role is to:

  • Administer the school’s computerised systems supporting the IT Manager, providing training and support to all users as and when required.
  • Support and maintain the school’s server and network infrastructure.
  • Support and maintain the Level 1, 2 helpdesk.
  • Troubleshoot end user desktop hardware & software problems.
  • Setup and maintain new desktop hardware and machines.
  • Carry out IT related projects as assigned in a diverse environment.
  • Setup and maintain user accounts in active directory, Office365, ParentPay.

This position requires a motivated team player who is capable of unsupervised tasking.

Requirements

Required Skills

  • Proficient in current Microsoft Windows server and desktop operating systems, Office 2016/365, SharePoint and standard applications in a domain environment
  • Experience in administering and troubleshooting server, network and desktop issues
  • Ask precise questions and gather enough information in order to be able to diagnose and solve IT problems and discern the level of support required
  • Maintain a pleasant and professional manner when dealing with end users
  • Work as part of a team and maintain composure in the face of changing workloads and constant interruptions
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, MCSA or equivalent knowledge
  • Help Desk L1 and L2 experience

Desirable Skills

  • Familiarity with requirements in an educational setting
  • Familiarity with cloud services
  • Experience with integration of Apple products (i.e. iPads)
  • German speaker would be advantageous, but not a necessity
