The German School London was founded in 1971 in Richmond. It is a renoun and award winning German School Abroad with currently about 900 pupils from nursery and pre-school through the bilingual Abitur and the IB diploma.

We are currently looking for an Early Years Educator as a maternity cover for one of our Kindergarten groups. We are a play-based bilingual German-English setting, following the German curriculum. The candidate must be a native English speaker, in order to support children´s development of the English language. Working hours will be 32.5 hours per week term-time, at a competitive salary, starting mid-November 2019 and finishing mid-July 2020.

Duties include:

• to support the group leader in general classroom duties
• to run the group independently in the absence of the group leader
• to keep classroom tidy and resources stocked
• to keep records on key children
• to liaise with parents/carers of key children
• to provide one English circle per week
• to support children’s development of the English language
• to attend all out of hours work activities, such as staff meetings, training, parent evenings, Christmas and summer fairs.

The applicant should have recent early years work experience and be confident enough to lead the group in the absence of the group leader.

Experience, Skills and Competencies:

• childcare qualification, level 3
• a good understanding of child development
• a native English speaker
• ability to work independently as well as fit into an existing team
• be flexible and prepared to help where needed
• good communication skills
• confidence
