Company Description

Dron & Dickson are specialists in integrated supply, installation and maintenance of harsh & hazardous electrical equipment. Based at five UK locations, we provide specialist E&I inspection, maintenance and project services to all parts of the Offshore & Onshore Energy sector, Pharmaceutical and Marine industries. Managed from our UK locations, our services operate within the UK, Europe, Africa and Asia.

Position

The primary purpose of this role is to lead all organisational sales and operational activities within the region while executing short-term and long-term plans aligned to the company’s strategy, mission, vision, and values by effectively leading the Wholesale Team. Objective: The primary objective of this role is to be accountable for the retention and growth of existing business within regional wholesale division. Through effective leadership of the function, the primary objective is to achieve the financial targets in line with the strategy.

Reporting to: Wholesale Director

Direct Reports: Regional Branch Managers & Business Development Managers

Strategic Leadership & Management Responsibilities:

  • Understand and support the company's strategy and mission
  • Overall responsibility of employee learning, development and KPI completion within department
  • Supporting the development of long-term organisational strategy
  • Aligning departmental goals, processes, and resource allocation within the organisational strategy
  • Embed strategic planning practice across the organisation
  • Support employees through learning and development and completion of development plans
  • Clear communication to employees of relevant organisational, departmental, and individual aims and initiatives
  • Take responsibility for managing excellent performance results, personally and within team.
  • Effective line management of team members including absence, disciplinary and performance management
  • Lead, inspire and motivate the team into consistent performance improvement

Role Responsibilities:

Sales

  • Management of P&L accounts in line with the 5-year strategy and annual financial year budgets
  • Ensure customers are retained, conduct analysis to review any drop-offs and action accordingly
  • Work with Branch Managers & Business Development Managers to collate and submit branch annual budget submissions
  • Management, planning and validating of all Pre-Quals, ITTs, Project, or Contract Submissions
  • Visit the top 5-10 customers from each branch on an annual basis
  • Visit the top 10 manufacturing partners for the company on an annual basis
  • Ensure all personnel follow customer charter “CARE”
  • Promote the Engineering Services division in line with the company’s technical capabilities
  • Ensure the company is professionally represented at all times

Market Sectors

  • Support and promote Dron & Dickson’s Energy Transition team
  • Formulate a plan on the agreed market sectors to increase market share
  • Identify potential market sectors to support diversification plans

Strategy

  • Ensure company strategy, vision, mission, and core values are regularly communicated and adhered
  • Identify any M&A opportunities in line with target profile

Succession Planning

  • Create a high performing and engaged team
  • Support, promote and ensure the timely completion of team appraisals, completing to a high standard to identify and recognise personal performance and contribution.
  • Proactively identify high performers and successors to fulfil critical positions
  • Provide mentoring and support for personnel to ensure training & development needs are identified and addressed

Other Responsibilities

  • Keep up to date with industry legislation
  • To maintain good communications with internal and external clients
  • To take a proactive approach to continuous improvement and development of the company’s IMS, systems and processes
  • To work with the Marketing Co-ordinator to identify marketing opportunities
  • Ad hoc duties as requested by management
  • Travel may be necessary to ensure delivery of business needs.
  • Social and business networking is expected

  • Ensure the Company meets its statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to health, safety, and welfare at work, including statutory training and reporting.

  • Overall responsibility of branch sites ensuring all relevant branch management responsibilities are actioned by the branch managers as and when required.

Core Training & Competencies:

  • Minimum National 5 or GCSE’s equivalent

Contracted Hours: 38.25 hours per week with 45 mins for lunch

Hours of work:

  • Mon to Thurs:8.30am – 5pm
  • Fri:8.30am – 4.30pm
