Position
Dron & Dickson have a number of upcoming opportunities for experienced Fire & Gas Technicians within the UK to carry out various preventive maintenance and calibration checks of Fire & Gas detection systems in accordance with established schedules and procedures/ instructions, including calibration of transmitters, limit switches, flow meters, test equipment or any other related jobs.
Role Responsibilities:
- Carry out systematic function test, calibration and repair of various types of combustible gas detectors, toxic gas detectors, flame detectors, smoke detectors, horns, beacons, speakers, Fire & Gas controllers, deluge systems and informs any serious abnormalities as observed to the Fire & Gas Engineering team for advice and direction.
- Installation, inspection, testing, maintenance and calibration of Fire & Gas detection/alarm and control systems.
- Troubleshoot, maintain and repair Fire & Gas alarm systems.
- Perform inspection and testing as per Standard requirements.
- Carry out the corrective, preventive and predictive maintenance activities for various Fire & Gas systems both onshore and offshore in accordance with established schedules to achieve effective functionality, reliability and efficiency in accordance with standard operating procedures, HSE guidelines and quality standards.
- Carry out field modifications on Fire & Gas systems, industrial communication systems and equipment in plant as directed and in accordance with the project documentation.
- Personnel shall be able to use and maintain all types of testing and calibration of instruments used.
- Record and evaluate test data.
- Read and interpret Fire & Gas detection system drawings and various codes.
- Working in compliance with the company work policy.
- Documenting inspection, testing, repair and failure data within the company adopted database system.
- Participate in the shutdown operations as per defined procedures and standards and in line with HSE guidelines.
- Provides ideas for continual improvement and reports any near misses noticed.
- Assist in the preparation of timely & accurate departmental statements and reports to meet and Department requirements, policies & standards.
- Ensure all relevant quality, health, safety and environmental procedures, instructions & controls are adhered to so that the safety of employees, contractors, quality of products/services and environmental compliance can be guaranteed.
- Perform other similar duties such as observing safety rules and regulations, follow quality procedures as prescribed, maintaining of good housekeeping onshore and offshore.
Requirements
Core Training & Competencies:
- Offshore Survival (BOSIET/ FOET)
- UKOOA Medical
- MIST
- Fire & Gas System Maintenance: SCQF LEVEL 6.
- IRATA Level 1, 2 or 3.
- Compex 01 – 04.
- Ability to calibrate field Fire & Gas instruments.
- Ability to use all Fire & Gas related instrument tools.
- Shall be aware of proper maintenance techniques.
- Experience with industrial fire protection systems including inspection, testing, maintenance and/or installation with an emphasis on industrial Fire & Gas detection and suppression systems.
Desirable Training & Competencies:
- GWO training. Manufacturer training.
- Previous experience as Fire & Gas technician in petrochemical industry.
- Knowledge of Fire & Gas system and familiar with International Codes & standards
