Position

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our PMO Department for a Project Manager to be based out of our operation in the Port of Southampton. Reporting to the Head of PMO, the Project Manager is responsible for the planning, management, monitoring, coordination, and financial control of an individual project or multiple concurrent projects.

The Project Manager is tasked to ensure that project(s) are completed on time and within budget, that the project’s objectives are met, project resources are utilised and optimised accordingly, and the different interests involved are satisfied with the delivery outcomes.

To include duties such as:

  • Project Planning – Responsible for the production of, and approved project plans, ensuring that all activities are identified, appropriately organised for project delivery, comply with the organisation’s project management framework and governance process.
  • Project Scope Definition – Plan and lead the delivery of a range of information gathering, analysis, and stakeholder consultation activities and specify, negotiate, and agree on project deliverables.
  • Stakeholder Management – Develop and implement stakeholder engagement plans (both internal and external) for project, ensuring appropriate stakeholder engagement to drive project success, develop effective working relationships, influence and negotiate delivery approach where appropriate.
  • Requirements Management – Lead the Business Analyst function to plan and coordinate the identification, elicitation of requirements; conduct analysis of those requirements for completion and alignment; document and manage requirements throughout the life of the project; and coordinate the verification of the end deliverable.
  • Project Team Management – Lead a small or medium project team; communicate the project vision and outcomes; coordinate teams actions on project activities; and identify areas of improvement necessary to build the capacity of the team through training, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Manage change to project scope and schedule, maintain and communicate project risk and issues, and provide recommendation on mitigation, solution or workaround.
  • Provide project reporting, facilitate analysis workshops, checkpoint meetings, and direct software release/deployment effort.
  • Provide/support demo and system/process change training to end users, manage UAT, release readiness and sign off process.
  • Responsible for post implementation support and ongoing project related technical queries management.
  • Lead or participate actively at Scrum Development ceremonies – Sprint Planning, Refinement, and Retrospective meetings. Work with Scrum Team on time-boxed sprints deliveries.

Requirements

  • Diploma/ Degree in a business or technology discipline
  • Prince 2 / Agile PM/ PMP Practitioner or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 year project management experience, ideally in technology setting
  • Solid experience across the full project management and software development life cycle
  • Solid technical background, with understanding or hands-on experience in software development and web technologies
  • Proven experience of working in a delivery-focus business analysis role
  • Proven experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products.
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Solid experience of delivery using Waterfall and Agile (or Hybrid) project management methodology and Scrum development approach
  • Experience and confident working with senior stakeholders
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Strategic influencing and negotiation skills
  • The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Self-motivated and be able to manage their own work
