An exciting opportunity has arisen within our PMO Department for a Product Owner to be based out of our operation in the Port of Southampton. Reporting to the Programme Manager, the Product Owner is responsible for defining and managing the product development process attached to project delivery. The Product Owner is expected to work with the Scrum team to bring the product vision to life through the design & development phases, ultimately culminating in successful delivery that provides business value. This includes prioritising the product backlog and guiding the project and scrum team through implementation towards building the right products, considering the vision, planning, and budgets of the business, customer, or use.

Key roles and responsibilities:

  • Product and Solution Development: Responsible for managing the definition, development, and delivery a product or service within project/programme delivery, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and business case. Leading and executing product development activities to develop the ‘right product’, such as market, customer, competitor research, product value proposition and positioning, product design and performance, customer engagement and demo, product implementation and launch, etc
  • Product Management: Support the management and monitoring of all aspects of a product life cycle, including strategic and tactical development and marketing strategy. Perform analysis to stay abreast of trends in the marketplace to ensure product’s competition position. Work closely with Product Managers and Commercial function to ensure the project team deliver a competitive digital product that serves customer and marker need
  • Digital Strategy/Transformational Project Execution: Lead the execution of digital product delivery roadmap, establishing and managing product development requirements, KPIs, and governance activities. Support Project Manager and Business Analyst in establishing product delivery requirements and ensuring the team deliver the right product to market
  • Agile Backlog Management: Own the selection and prioritisation of backlog items ensuring the delivery of right product that meet the agreed requirements, and that offers the opportunity for a sustainable pace of continuous development
  • Project Benefit Realisation: Develop and manage/support the delivery of a plan to evaluate and track business benefits referenced in the business case and to identify actions needed to maximise these

About you:

  • Full product development life-cycle experience within project delivery setting
  • Business Insight: Solid knowledge of business and marketplace to advance the product development and delivery goals
  • Product Scope Management: Works at an advanced level to identify, define and verify, product development scope, and manage changes to the scope of the project or program, utilizing the most appropriate approach
  • Strategic mindset: Sees ahead to continuous product development and future possibilities and translates them into product development strategy
  • Project benefits management: Works at an advanced level to identify, track, and enable the achievement of the planned benefits and intended outcomes of a product delivery
  • Outstanding communication skills to convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences
  • A people person, great ability in building partnership and work collaboratively with other to achieve common goals
  • In-depth knowledge of Agile process and principles
  • Knowledge of JIRA and Confluence is essential
  • Experience in logistic industries will be advantageous
