An exciting opportunity has arisen within our IT department for an IT Network Security Engineer to be based out of our operation in the Port of Southampton. Reporting to the Head of IT, the IT Network Engineer has a key responsibility to ensure our network is secure, maintained and meets the needs of the business and to design, document, install and maintain all security products to protect the business against attacks, frauds, leaks or intrusions.

Location: Southampton

To include duties such as:

IT Networking

• Planning, engineering, and monitoring the security arrangements for the protection of the network systems.
• Identifying, monitoring, and defining the requirements of the overall security of the system
• Design, implement and test secure network solutions
• Design and maintain fibre optic network infrastructure
• Maintain an enterprise level network in a 24x7 environment

Cyber Security

• Ensuring the business is protected from Cyber threats
• Configuring and installing security infrastructure devices.
• Investigating intrusion and hacking incidents, collecting incident responses, and carrying out forensic investigations.
• Determining latest technologies and processes that improve the overall security of the system.
• Using industry-standard analysis criteria to test the security level of the business.
• Developing tracking documents to note system vulnerabilities.
• Reporting the security analysis and monitoring findings.
• Ensuring the suitability of new software and hardware before installation.
• Implementing regulatory systems in accordance with IT security.
• Informing the business about the security incidents as soon as possible.
• Assist the Infrastructure and Support team to help maintain the security stance of business IT equipment and applications.

Firewalls

• Maintaining firewalls, virtual private networks, web protocols, and email security.
• Managing virus and threat detection systems.
• Configuring, implementing and maintaining intrusion detection systems and firewalls.
• Testing and checking the system for weaknesses in software and hardware.

About you:

Experience

• Good working knowledge of IT networking, preferably Cisco.
• Experience of the following Cisco product lines – Wi-Fi, Identity Services Engine, Secure Network Analytics and Prime
• Good working knowledge of Firewalls, preferably Checkpoint.
• Ability to design, document, implement, test and deploy secure network solutions
• Experience designing, analysing, configuring and implementing cyber security systems such as Anti Virus, VPN, SOC/SIEM & NAC, PAM and MDM systems.
• Experience configuring site to site VPNS, with the appropriate security
