Position

The successful Senior RF & Microwave Engineer will have design and test responsibility for RF Modules (from die/wafer level upwards, including sub-system understanding. The role requires experience of RF/PA Design and measurements and will include some or all of the following (depending on seniority/experience):

  • Lead projects as a design authority responsible for ensuring that the customer technical requirements are met, owning the decision making, co-ordination of engineering delivery team, and being accountable against delivery
  • Work as part of the technical team to lead and deliver internal and external work-packages and projects
  • Provide detailed technical documentation for internal and external stakeholders
  • Adhere to work specifications
  • Attend and contribute to project and design reviews, providing peer reviews of colleague’s work
  • Support the business development team to identify collaborative opportunities and contribute to the bid process
  • Interact with the other engineering functions of Power Electronics, Photonics, and Advanced Packaging to deliver cross functional work-packages and projects.

Requirements

Multi-Site role- we have a new Future Telecoms Hub in the Bristol & Bath Science Park which will be the main place of work for this position but there would be a requirement to travel to Newport, to use some laboratory equipment and collaborate with the RF team.


The successful candidate should have a background in at least one of the following areas:

  • Semiconductor Device Physics and/or Modelling
  • RF PA Design experience to have included Discrete, MMIC Design/RF IC design)
  • Antenna design and measurement
  • RF/ Microwave systems engineering

As well as the above, you should have:

  • Proven, relevant engineering industry experience
  • Significant and demonstrable RF design experience, you should be able to show a portfolio of past designs completed against a range of different technical requirements: Stability Analysis; Thermal Management Considerations; EMC/EMI Considerations; RF Package Design Considerations (low loss, high frequency package solutions); Cost, size and weight considerations; Modelling; Keysight ADS; Keysight System Vue; Ansys.
  • Load Pull measurement and data analysis plus a high level of competence in all-round RFM testing
  • Ability and willingness to learn new skills/techniques
  • Publications, technical report writing and presenting
  • Ability to plan and organise tasks to meet deliverables according to project schedules
  • Research and Development skills and comfortable working with academics and industry partners
  • Ideally holds a Degree in relevant science, engineering or related discipline to good Honours level, or qualified by suitable directly relevant experience
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to quickly understand complex issues and to propose solutions
  • Excellent team working skills with the ability to work collaboratively and co-operatively with colleagues
  • Well-developed communication skills, including the ability to ensure effective communication with a wide range of technical stakeholders

Management of his/ her own information by the user

The user can review, correct or delete its personal information at any time; to perform these operations, user can enter in his/ her private area, click on the Profile and/ or User Settings button and make all necessary changes.
The above information about the users will be deleted, but logs and other user demographic and statistical information could be kept, maintaining an archived copy of these information anonymously.
If the personal information of the users have been consulted by other individuals/ organizations before the revisions and deletions, CSA Catapult can not perform the deletion of previous information on their systems.i.
