Position

The Interim IT Support Specialist role provides IT support to the Catapults staff to ensure they can use IT effectively to contribute to the aims and objectives of the organisation. To best achieve this, the role stretches beyond day-to-day user support activities and into the maintenance of IT systems to ensure they continue run with minimum downtime.


Due to organisation growth and the evolving nature of IT hardware and software, it is necessary to be involved in projects which deliver new IT equipment and services. This role is part of the whole project lifecycle from investigation, procurement, testing, documentation, rollout and eventually support. Key tasks include:


  • Logging all IT activity into the ticketing system, keeping logs, security tools and assets up to date and adhering to ITIL principles to ensure compliance to process and procedure.
  • Provide a proactive approach to IT support through documentation, training and guidance.
  • Support internal/ remote workers with IT issues within a Microsoft Windows/ Office infrastructure.
  • Maintain all IT assets to achieve the highest levels of security and reliability.
  • Working closely with the IT Manager to provide day to day support and alert them to any potential dangers.
  • Work with external suppliers of IT Goods, services and technical support who provide technical assistance on many of the platforms and services when needed.
  • Support and maintain telephony and teleconferencing assets.
  • Assist guests and partners with access to Catapult assets and information.
  • Daily IT management checks of systems such as Antivirus, Backups and Network.
  • Ensure that all IT activities are logged accurately in our ticketing system.
  • Write, review and publish technical documentation and procedures.
  • Provide training and guidance to internal users on the correct usage of systems.
  • Manage the IT asset database, ensuring everything is tagged, logged and up to date.
  • Work with suppliers to procure IT goods and services.
  • Work with departments around the catapult on IT projects to improve efficiency, accuracy and security.
  • Adhering to data security principles, alert dangers to the IT manager.

Requirements

  • Experience in an IT Support based role ideally working with Microsoft 365 and Azure
  • Understanding of cloud concepts as they relate to IT Infrastructure
  • Understanding of ITIL principles and Project Management
  • Knowledge of IT through a qualification such as CompTIA A+ is desirable
  • Microsoft Qualifications (MTA, MCSA, MCSE, MCSD, MOS, MCP) are desirable
  • Ability to work effectively in a service-oriented role, supporting all stakeholders in the organisation.
  • Excellent organisational Skills

  • Up to £26,600 annual salary based on a 30 hour week
  • This is a fixed term contract offered until 28 March 2025 covering maternity leave, annual salary pro rata'd according to start date
