Cartoon Saloon is a four- time Academy Award (R), Golden Globe (R), BAFTA and Emmy nominated animation studio based in Kilkenny in the South East of Ireland. Employing over 150 crew, we are currently working on a number of projects in production and in development

The Job Details:

We are looking for a Location Designer for our new TV Series.

As a Location Designer you will be responsible for:

● Work closely with the Art Director, Location Design Supervisor, Production Designers, Location Design team and Production team to establish and implement the visual style of the series.

● Create with Photoshop: Maps, Colour palettes, Locations, Visual references and if needed, master Layouts and Backgrounds as part of the Storyboard pack and to help clarify elements for the Layout, BG, SFX and Compositing departments.

● Produce work following the style established by the Art Director and the Production Designers, comprising multiple passes and approval by your Supervisor and Director.

● If needed, work closely with the Location and Character Design Supervisors and Assets Design team to produce colour palettes for characters and props that integrate well into backgrounds and answer the style of the project.

● If needed, create conceptual and/or production artwork with regards to other graphic elements of the series such as promotional material, posters, etc.

●Ensure quality and style of show is consistently achieved in your work and that all notes/retakes are added.

●Maintain well structured files and adhere to established layer and texture naming conventions when provided.

● Follow instructions from the Location Design Supervisor and Production team to meet creative standards and production deadlines.

● To report/communicate progress of work and address any problems to the Location Design Supervisor, Production Manager and Production Coordinator.

● To attend departmental kick-off meetings, reviews and Director approvals as needed.

● To promote a good work ethic and positive atmosphere within the team.

● To be available on Google Chat and by emails during working hours.
