The Job Details:

We are looking for Layout Artists for our Mystery Adventure TV Series

Following the Director’s vision and under the guidance of the Art Direction Team and Layout Supervisor, the Layout Artist’s primary responsibility is to use the animatic to generate scenes that facilitate and optimize the storytelling. Finalising location design while indicating character, props and effects placement within the shot, the layout artist must be able to illustrate how scene composition, camera lens/angle, movement and editing choices are put to use to best serve the narrative.

As a Layout Artist you will be responsible for:

• Generate PSDs for each shot, based on storyboard panel and supervisors briefing.

• Check hook-ups, size relations, staging, reuses etc based on the storyboard and scene illustrations/reference CS provide.

• Follow notes/changes from Layout Supervisor and/or Lead and complete them in a timely manner

• Ensure quality and style consistency with the show

• Refine the design of the shots based on reference provided

• If needed - suggest ways to simplify shots or make the shots easier for other departments.

• Possible BG reuses must be indicated (full/partial reuse)

• Follow naming and organisational conventions set out by the Layout Supervisor to ensure the working files are clearly labeled, elements are well separated and organised in preparation for the other departments

• Indication of light direction (and wind direction if needed)

• Checking timing for camera moves

• Follow exact procedures set by CS

• Meet deadlines as established by production management

• Address any problems and communicate progress of work to the Production Manager and Production Coordinator

• Able to work in-house in Kilkenny, Ireland.

What we would like to see from you:

• Excellent drawing skills and understanding of composition, perspective and lighting.

• Excellent understanding of storyboarding, scene continuity and shot hook up

• High proficiency in Photoshop.

• Must be able to take direction, respond well to notes and pitch creative/technical solutions to potential problems.

• 3-5 years previous layout experience,TV Series work preferred.
