This role exists to lead elements of the procurement of Green Beans from Trading Houses and Suppliers at the optimal price and quality for UCC customers

Key Accountabilities

  • Working with internal customers (commercial and manufacturing) to identify end customer key requirements (e.g. McDonalds, Mercadona)
  • Executing procurement decisions based upon customer requirements up to agreed authorization levels
  • Ensuring a proactive role for Procurement in the execution of UCC Sustainability Standards and the Supplier Code of Conduct
  • Working with Supply Chain Team to ensure contracts and deliveries are executed

Key Responsibilities

  • Uses data and analytics to understand internal and external customer requirements
  • Works proactively with internal customers – commercial, manufacturing and supply chain
  • Is in daily contact with our suppliers
  • Conducts futures market price fixations and forex conversions
  • Places orders for Coffee for an agreed internal customer group
  • Supports the Supply Chain Team in case of frictions with the factories in contract executions (delays of deliveries etc)
  • Supports to resolve contractor grievances and claims against suppliers
  • Delivers optimal commercial results for the customer and UCC
  • Works to ensure supplier awareness and compliance with the UCC Supplier Code of Conduct
  • Works proactively with the UCC Sustainability Director to optimise our Green Bean Procurement supply chain in regard to UCC ESG commitments

Key Skills Knowledge & Experience

  • Ten or more years experience in Commodities Trading, preferably Coffee.
  • Bachelor in Business Administration or similar with ideally a major in Commodity Trading or finished apprenticeship in food industry, trading or roasting company
  • Fluent language skills in English. Any additional key language a plus (Spanish, French, German, Portuguese etc)
  • Microsoft Dynamics NAV (or similar financial ERP) experience is a plus
  • Microsoft Office proficiency, especially MS Excel
  • Swiss national or in possession of a valid Swiss work permit
  • Customer focused
  • Good sensory skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Attention to detail, while keeping the ability to see the big picture
