Position

The candidate will have sound knowledge in highway alignment design as well as drainage design and must be working toward Chartership (1-2 years away) or already be Chartered.

ByrneLooby Belfast is the lead highways team within the BL group providing services for Galway, Dublin, Guildford, Manchester and most recently on the Jazan feasibility study for BL Bahrain.

Requirements

  • Chartered status or showing evidence of working toward Chartership qualification with a minimum of 7 years’ relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in Civil Engineering Design and management of infrastructure projects with a particular focus on road/highway alignment using the Civil 3d software package.
  • Proficient use in AutoCAD.
  • Civil 3d usage for cut/fill balance assessments; general earthworks appraisals and volumetric/quantity analysis (desirable)
  • Drainage design for roads/carriageways, car parks, housing developments using Microdrainage software (desirable)
  • Road Pavement design – for both unbound and flexible pavements (desirable)
  • Knowledge of contributing to financial targets and identifying or targeting projects or clients that are involved in site clearance works, earthworks activities, road construction, pavement & kerb laying, drainage, ducting, traffic and road signage, etc.
  • Experience of successfully delivering civil projects from concept to detailed design.
  • Detailed knowledge of applicable codes of practice, design standards and health and safety regulations.
  • Experience of effectively liaising with clients, colleagues, and external agencies to build effective working relationships.
  • Promote and champion a quality culture to achieve company goals and committed to Continued Professional Development and keeps up to date with current trends in the industry.
  • Degree qualified in a relevant field.
  • Knowledge of local legislation and its application is a benefit.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Management of works packages and maintaining/establishing relationships with key clients and contacts across the business including client liaison and development.
  • Management of CAD and junior support staff.
  • Financial responsibility for delivery of projects on time and within budget; seek client agreement and/or execution of change control where additions or contract variations apply (under supervision of Chartered Civil Engineer).
  • Management of projects within time, cost and quality constraints and standards.
  • Management of the day-to-day work of the inhouse civils design team.
  • Champions and promotes professional advice, guidance and support across the business.
  • Monitors and manages compliance and KPI’s.
  • Business development/work winning including the preparation of tender submissions.
  • Assisting with estimating, pricing and delivering against work targets.
  • Assisting with preparation of tender submissions.
  • Management of engineering outsource partners.
