Senior Resident Engineer
ByrneLooby are looking to recruit a Civil Senior Resident Engineer.
The Senior Resident Engineer’s duties shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
- To be responsible to Irish Water for ensuring that the works are carried out in accordance with the Contract documents.
- To ensure that all materials used in the works are in accordance with the applicable specification
- To report to the Local Authority Capital Office Project Manager, Employer’s Representative & Irish Water Capital Delivery on all matters pertaining to work on site.
- To monitor and supervise compliance with the Contractor’s Safety and Health Plan.
- To observe and implement all instructions issued by the Employer’s Representative and to issue instructions to the Contractor regarding compliance with the Works Requirements.
- To keep a detailed contemporaneous works diary and comprehensive records of all site activities (including progress, labor, plant, usage, deliveries etc.) and to ensure that all matters having contractual implications are accurately recorded.
- In consultation with the Local Authority Capital Office Project Manager, Employer’s Representative & Irish Water Capital Delivery to set out and coordinate the work of the other Site Supervisory staff.
- To check and agree measurement of the work as the works progress.
- To carry out baseline surveys prior to commencement of construction and to check the Contractor’s setting out during construction.
- To assess and report to the Local Authority Capital Office Project Manager, Employer’s Representative & Irish Water Capital Delivery on the Contractor’s interim and final Payment Applications.
- To report on contractual claims/disputes.
- To monitor the preparation of “As Constructed” drawing as the works progress.
- To liaise with local residents, landowners, statutory bodies, and the general public both in advance of and during the works.
- To draft minutes of site meetings.
- To monitor and direct the performance of the Contractor.
- To manage contract completion and taking-over.
- To monitor the performance of the Contractor in relation to Safety, Health and Welfare at Work requirements during construction and operation.
- To undertake any additional duties as instructed by the Employers Representative.
- To co-ordinate the programming of interfaces between different contracts or existing IW Assets.
- To assess and progress archaeological monitoring to ensure that necessary works are programmed and carried out in advance to avoid delays to the work.
- To ensure the Contractor complies with all statutory requirements regarding working on public roads and public areas, disposal of waste and liability to other statutory undertakers.
- To ensure that the relevant Authorities and Utilities have been notified by the Contractor, in advance of any work which could affect their existing services. No excavation, cable or pipe connection should proceed without their knowledge and approval.
