Position

Being part of a well-established and highly successful company, you will work within the New Process Development team to support our fermentation processes (enzyme production) and microbiology projects.

The microbiology technician role is hands-on and requires out of hours and weekend working to support our fermentation processes. The laboratory role is to carry out all the essential microbiology tasks and activities to successfully support our pilot and production fermentations and to complete our enzyme development projects and enzyme production processes. You will be an integral member of the NPD and project teams - helping to deliver the needs of our customers. You will have practical experience of working in a microbiology lab environment.

Salary: Dependent on Experience & substantial benefits

Location: Nantgarw, Cardiff

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (flexible working to include weekends)

Transport: Due to the requirement for flexible weekend work, having your own transport may be essential to performing the role

Requirements

Having a science degree in microbiology or molecular biology is essential and knowledge of enzyme assays and protein analysis will be a distinct advantage. Practical experience of working within a microbiology laboratory setting and aseptic techniques are also essential for this role, as you will be responsible for setting up shake flasks (for seed train or expression trials), purity plate tests, microscopy analysis and protein analysis (SDS-PAGE).

You will need to be organised, systematic, accurate and enjoy working on different projects simultaneously with a flexible approach to changing work demands. You will also need to ensure quality standards are maintained to support a safe and clean working lab environment.
