Position

Background

Los Angeles is one of the most fabulous and eclectic cities in the world, and we believe that Big Bus can add a great new experience for visitors by utilising our expertise of providing tourists with a never before available experience and the perfect introduction to this world-famous city, helping them to discover and explore the wealth of things to do and places to see.

By expanding into Los Angeles, we are making this our 22nd city that we operate from. This is an exciting opportunity for you to create something very special as you will be part of the opening team and be involved in setting up the operation and infrastructure of the business.

Overall Purpose

The main responsibilities are to assist in the analysis and optimization of routes to maximize efficiency; as well as evaluating and making recommendations regarding schedules.

Key Areas of Accountability and Responsibility

  • Directs the day-to-day route operations 
  • Daily communication and interaction with drivers, ticket sellers and tour guides
  • Organizes and conducts activities to ensure safe, cost-effective, on-time operating performance
  • Communicates issues with drivers, tour guides and Managers as appropriate
  • Monitors radio, telephones and on-road provision of service for quality service
  • Matches trip requests to a route that will ensure timely pick-up from origin or arrival to destination
  • Analyses batched trips to ensure they are optimized on the assigned routes
  • Maintains an up-to-date listing of buses and assigned drivers  
  • Ensures ready access to an up-to-date route sheet for each scheduled route  
  • Ensures that each scheduled route is appropriately covered by utilizing available relief or substitute drivers and/or tour guides  
  • Maintains cordial and professional working relationships with staff  
  • Demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge of all facets of driver duties as outlined by DOT regulations
  • Assist with ticket sales as needed
  • Provide customer service including information on routes, directions and assistance choosing the best product
  • Complete a daily report of activity
  • In charge and in direct supervision of sales team to maximize revenue
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

Knowledge:

  • Extensive knowledge of LA and surrounding areas

Skills:

  • Knowledge of DOT requirements is a plus

Education/Experience:

  • CDL License is preferred but not required
  • At least 2 years customer service and/or sales experience

Competencies:

  • Works well under pressure
  • Team-player
  • Communicates clearly and effectively

Working Hours and Conditions

  • Full Time, 5 days a week
  • Hours and days vary depending on business need

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand for 8 hours a day
  • Must be able to work outside
