The Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust (also known as BBOWT) was formed in 1959 and has a vision of an environment rich in wildlife for everyone, valued by all. We aim to lead the way to nature’s recovery through innovative land management, and connect people with nature to improve their wellbeing. We work in partnership and through collaborative projects with local communities, businesses, land owners and local authorities. In the three counties BBOWT owns or manages over 80 nature reserves covering 2,500 hectares. We have more than 50,000 members, employ over 100 professional staff, and have active support from more than 1,350 volunteers. Each year around 12,000 schoolchildren visit our education centres. BBOWT has an annual turnover of over £6 million and receives income from membership subscriptions, grants and donations. BBOWT is one of 46 Wildlife Trusts working across the UK, each is a corporate member of the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts.

Position

We are seeking a Governance & Business Support Officer to ensure excellence in Trustee and Charity governance and business administration.

You will work closely with the Chief Executive’s Office to ensure there is joined up support to service our Board of Trustees and Directors, and across other areas of the business. This will include taking minutes at operational management meetings and dealing with public enquiries.

Requirements

We are looking for an expert communicator and someone who works well under pressure, are self-motivated and can manage upwards. As a frequent first-point of contact in this fast-paced, dynamic organisation, you will play a key role in leading and reflecting the highest quality of standards, professionalism and confidentiality. You will enjoy structured working and have an ability to plan and manage your time effectively. A keen interest in nature conservation is welcomed.

Other information

Salary: £11,242 - £11,479 (pro rata) per annum (£19,673 - £20,088 FTE)

Contract: Permanent, part time

Hours: 20 hours per week (flexible over 4-5 days – minimum of 3/4 days in office)

Based: The Lodge, Littlemore, Oxford and Homeworking
