Position

You will play a significant role in the reopening, recovery and growth of Awen Cultural Trust’s portfolio of venues across South Wales, proactively growing audiences and participants for Awen’s programmes of work, through traditional and digital marketing methods, customer relationship management, public relations and fundraising activity.

What will you be doing?

  • With support from the Head of Marketing and Communications, you will be responsible for developing, delivering, and measuring the success of the marketing, communications and audience development plans across Awen’s portfolio of venues, to meet ticket sales targets and achieve additional income streams.

  • You will be the strategic lead for our new box office system (Spektrix) and use its functionality, e.g., automated campaigns, reporting features and website integration, to improve the customer experience, attract new and diverse audiences and participants, increase repeat attendances from customers, and maximise revenue through donations and memberships.

  • You will manage and report on campaigns delivered across a range of communications channels including our websites, email marketing platforms, social media and printed materials, making data-driven decisions using Spektrix, customer segmentation methods and other audience insights to deliver the most effective ROI.

  • As the ‘brand guardian’ for the venues, you will advocate for the consistent use of the Welsh language, logos, imagery, fonts and tone of voice, and GDPR and PECR compliance, across all marketing communications, and will ensure these are delivered to a high, professional standard within all areas of the organisation.

  • To support the Commerical Marketing Manager within Awen Trading Limited with the marketing and communications plans which promote the venues’ commercial and trading activities including the bars and catering offer and venue hire.

Qualifications, Skills, Abilities and Experience

  • Degree level qualification in marketing, PR or communications or be able to demonstrate similar through experience. (E)

  • Proven experience of marketing. (E)

  • Able to undertake copy writing to a high level. (E)

  • Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to manage priorities, work to tight schedules. (E)

  • Experience of managing a box office or CRM system and using it to maximise marketing, sales and fundraising potential from customer data (E)

  • In-depth knowledge of digital marketing methods. (E)

  • Experience of managing budgets and delivering cost effective marketing activity. (E)

  • Demonstrable evidence of delivering high quality marketing campaigns that drive sales. (E)

  • A full UK driving license and access to your own vehicle. (E)

  • High level of ICT working knowledge and experience – Microsoft 365, Word and Excel. (E)

  • Ability to manage, motivate and support staff to reach their potential (E)

  • Knowledge of hospitality and food service marketing.

  • Welsh speaker – highly desirable.

  • Experience of using analytics e.g. Google Analytics and social media Insights to inform and evaluate marketing activity.

  • Experience of using content management systems and working with web developers.

  • Experience of managing the marketing activity for several departments or organisations simultaneously.

  • Experience of working with external agencies e.g. graphic design, printers, copywriters and other specialisms.

  • Experience within an arts marketing role

  • Understanding of audience development, segmentation and profile tools such as Audience Finder

Salary: £31,525

Medical Clearance: Any offer of appointment is subject to medical clearance.

References: Two satisfactory references of which one should be your last employer. Where possible, both should be from previous employers.

Probationary period: New staff appointed to Awen Cultural Trust will be subject to a 6-month probationary period.

Eligibility to work in the UK: You are required to provide originals of one of the following documents as proof of your eligibility to work in the UK: birth certificate issued in the United Kingdom in conjunction with form P45, Form P60 or a pay slip from previous employment, current passport issued by a member state of the EEA or official immigration document showing that you are eligible to work in the United Kingdom.
