Position

To support building operations at the Grand Pavilion and Awel y Mor, a Grade II listed building, ensuring a first-rate customer experience of this unique and much-loved seafront theatre and community venue. The post will also cover Awel Y Mor Community Centre in Porthcawl.

A busy venue throughout the year, the role will ensure effective and efficient facilities maintenance, resources and facilities on a day-to-day basis so attention to detail and enjoyment of working with the public is essential.

What will you be doing?

  • Setting up and turning around of rooms and the auditorium for performances and functions

  • Acting as a keyholder ensuring security of building and resources at all times as a duty officer on a rota basis.

  • Act as a key holder in the event of an emergency call out as well as support other sites across Awen.

  • Undertaking day to day buildings maintenance, ensuring effective and efficient operations and facilities both front and back of house, as well as externally.

  • In liaison with the General Manager of the Grand Pavilion and the Facilities Manager for Awen, escalate major building issues to contractors and suppliers.

  • Be actively involved with pro-active as well as reactive maintenance, keeping the public areas of the building in top condition for all visitors, hirers and performers within a given budget.

  • Be fully engaged with the theatre diary, ensuring minimising of disruption to service and users and that facilities are ready to use when needed.

  • Attend and be present at site meetings with contractors for building orientation and supervision.

  • Use TrackPlan to log maintenance jobs to ensure that colleagues are up to date familiar with the works plans and logged maintenance issues.

Up to 37 hours per week

This is a fulltime role however we welcome applications from individuals who would like to discuss part time options.

Salary: £18,893 (Salary subject to job evaluation)

Probationary period: New staff appointed to Awen will be subject to a 6-month probationary period.

Qualifications, Skills, Abilities and Experience

  • Has a good level of fitness including the ability to lift and move heavy loads – manual handling including bending and twisting. (E)

  • Experience of carrying out basic maintenance duties (E)

  • Good administrative, organisational and ICT skills (E)

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally (E)

  • A full driving licence and access to your own vehicle for work purposes (E)

  • Has an understanding and knowledge of health and safety and hygiene requirements for public buildings

  • Experience of managing facilities in a public facing/commercial environment.

  • Experience of using a CRM, sales or booking software in a hospitality or leisure setting

  • Ability to communicate in Welsh

  • Experience of working in a front-line capacity in an arts, hospitality and/or leisure facility
