ASL Aviation Holdings is a leading aviation services company based in Swords, Ireland, close to Dublin Airport. The ASL Aviation Holdings Group includes 5 wholly owned European airlines; ASL Airlines Ireland, ASL Airlines Belgium, ASL Airlines France, ASL Airlines and ASL Airlines United Kingdom. The Group also has airline operations in South Africa and Thailand. Additionally, the Group includes maintenance facilities and several leasing entities. ASL’s airlines operate under their own brands and operate passenger and cargo networks on behalf of major international customers, particularly in the express freight and postal sectors. The Group’s global operations serve over 65 countries.

The Global ASL fleet of 140 aircraft includes 17 aircraft types from the Boeing 747-400F to the ATR-72 turbo prob. The Group has confirmed 20 slots with Boeing for 737-800 Boeing Converted Freighters (BCF) aircraft. Delivery of these next-generation aircraft has started and will continue until 2023.

In 2020, despite the global disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, ASL’s airlines continued to operate with 80% global aircraft utilisation on average. The airlines operated more than 122,000 flight hours, carrying 810,000 tonnes of freight and 2,620,000 passengers.

While some of the group airlines were founded more than 40 and 50 years ago, ASL Aviation Holdings’ foundation essentially began in 1998 and the company has been profitable every year since its incorporation. Annual revenue now exceeds €1.1bn EUR.

Position

The purpose of the role is to analyse, develop, maintain, and coordinate the company processes supporting the functions of Aircraft Performance and Weight & Balance for all airlines within the ASL Group.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide general aircraft performance information for use by pilots, trainers and flight planners. Including 24/7 support for temporary changes
  • Analyse aircraft performance data impacting on the ASL fleet imminently and in the long term, with the ability to provide optimum solutions based on analysis
  • Support fuel efficiency programs through the provision of high quality analysis and reporting of operational data and processes
  • Develop and maintain weight & balance information and aircraft loading systems processes
  • Develop technical manuals and processes within Flight Operations
  • Provide instruction to Flight Crew Training personnel on aspects of aircraft performance and Weight & Balance. Evaluate payload range performance to improve aircraft payload capability
  • Design, implement and manage airborne and ground-based software systems that improve operational efficiency, monitor and optimise aircraft and engineer performance and maximise the available payload
  • Maintain competence on the basis of continued education and training in their area of responsibility. The company will facilitate this process

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Aviation or Engineering related third level qualifications or completed any Aircraft Manufacturer aircraft performance qualification
  • Mechanical or Aeronautical degree desired
  • A high level of understanding and experience in the interpretation of Legislation, Regulations and Orders as applicable to aviation is desired

Experience:

  • Experience in the authoring process for airline technical and procedural documentation
  • Previous experience in an airline operational environment

Candidates must be elgible to live and work in the EU.
