The role of a Functional Skills Tutor provides academic and pastoral support to learners to enable them to successfully complete their programme of study. The tutor is responsible for supporting learners on programme to develop Maths, English and employability skills. In addition to this, learners have the opportunity to achieve a nationally recognised vocational qualification. As a Functional Skills Tutor you will achieve this by contributing to planning sessions and developing appropriate schemes of work and lesson plans in order to deliver qualifications successfully.   Tutors will also undertake individual reviews, monitor progress made against qualification criteria and planning actions and activities to fully support the achievement of the learner on programme.

Requirements

Applicants will hold an Award in Education and Training, (AET previously known as PTLLS) as a minimum, or be willing to work toward this qualification.  You will also hold a minimum of level 3 in English and Maths.

Successful candidates will be expected to embrace the values of the organisation namely; Unity, Integrity and Collaboration, and will be subject to a check by the Disclosure and Barring Service. Applicants must be willing to work flexibly and be available to travel with potential overnight stays.
